The
22 year-old Romanian Tenor, Silviu Alexandru Mihaila was born in
Bucharest, Romania. He is a prodigiously gifted young singer who
embarked on his career as a soloist at the age of nine. From early
childhood there was clear that his destiny was the music. Before he
received the Entrance Award at the prestigious institution Royal
Northern College of Music, where he is currently pursuing a course
within the Vocal and Opera Performance department, he attended the
"George Enescu" Music High-School, in Bucharest, Romania,
where he was vocally trained by the lyric soprano Liliana Dumitrache.
Silviu is currently studying under the tutelage of the international
acclaimed dramatic tenor David Maxwell Anderson who is at the moment
dedicated to the development of the careers of young singers.
Childhood had brought Silviu the sign of success. Silviu has released
over 100 recordings and has more than 120 stage performances.
He
won an important number of prizes at national and international vocal
competitions, including the "Victor Giuleanu" and "George
Georgescu" and
has a notable professional experience as a soloist, experience proven
on the many European high-profile concert platforms including the
Bridgewater Hall, the Romanian Athenaeum, Mihail Jora Concert Hall or
the Musical Salon of the Royal Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania. He
also debuted as an opera singer at the RNCM Opera Theatre, performing
significant musical moments in operas by Mozart, Piccini and
Massenet. He also participated in Masterclasses given by
internationally renowned musicians such as Sir John Thomlinson,
Christopher
Purves, Julius
Drake, Anthony Spiri, and David Owen Norris. Silviu
Mihaila has made frequent appearances on Radio and Television
stations including "Televiziunea Romana" (TVR 1, 2, TVR
International), Radio Romania Muzical, TRM-Cultural and NationalTV.
His concert diary also includes performances at musical festivals,
churches, charity musical events and vocal workshops. He has recently
given a pre-concert workshop at the Bridgewater Concert Hall, in
Manchester, with Julian Gregory, first violin in the BBC
Philharmonic. Silviu's future engagements include recitals and opera
performances in various countries around the globe.
